Culinary Splendors of Medieval Baghdad

Take a journey back to the time of the Abbasid Caliphate, the Islamic Golden Age, during the rule of Caliph Harun al-Rashid, most famously known as the prince from One Thousand and One Arabian Nights. These are the days of Aladdin and his lamp, Ali Baba and the forty thieves, and the seven voyages of Sinbad. This period was also the height of the Islamic Empire; when scholars from around the world came together at the House of Wisdom in Baghdad and the caliph’s rule stretched from the borders of India, through the Middle East to North Africa and Spain.
